POP star Christina Aguilera broke her silence regarding Britney Spears and her conservatorship.
The singer penned an open letter on June 28, 2021, to Spears and shared it on social media with fans.
What did Christina Aguilera say about Britney Spears?
Christina Aguilera, 40, took to Twitter to show support for Britney Spears and her conservatorship case amid her explosive hearing.
Aguilera shared a throwback photo of the two of them, writing: “These past few days I've been thinking about Britney and everything she is going through.
"It is unacceptable that any woman, or human, wanting to be in control of their own destiny might not be allowed to live life as they wish.
"To be silenced, ignored, bullied or denied support by those 'close' to you is the most depleting, devastating and demeaning thing imaginable.
She continued: “Every woman must have the right to her own body, her own reproductive system, her own privacy, her own space, her own healing and her own happiness.
“The conviction and desperation of this plea for freedom leads me to believe that this person I once knew has been living without compassion or decency from those in control.
Adding: “To a woman who has worked under conditions and pressure unimaginable to most, I promise you she deserves all of the freedom possible to live her happiest life.
"My heart goes out to Britney."
How long have Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera been friends?
Spears and Aguilera both starred in the 1990s Mickey Mouse Club reboot.
The show also starred Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Keri Russell, and Ryan Gosling.
The pair also performed alongside Madonna at the 2000 MTV VMAs.
However, Aguilera and Spears were pinned against each other and had an outstanding feud as they were rising stars back in the early 2000’s.
According to E!, back in 2007, Aguilera claimed she wished Spears nothing but the best amid her famous breakdown in California.
The singer said: “I don't pass any judgment on what she does.
"There have been so many stories about the two of us not getting on.
"We don't keep closely in touch with one another, and it's obvious how our lives have taken on two different directions."
What did Britney Spears say in her conservatorship hearing?
Spears took a stand for herself at her conservatorship hearing, saying: “I just want my life back.”
She spoke via phone for 20 minutes and claimed that the conservatorship from the beginning "makes no sense."
"I pay people money and they control me. I worked since I was 17-years-old and this conservatorship is abusive," she said.
"I don't feel I can live a full life. I don't even believe in therapy. I always thought I could take it to God."
Spears repeated she wants conservatorship to end and said she is being hounded by paparazzi as the conservatorship is not protecting her and giving her "no privacy."
"I want to end the conservatorship and I don't want to be evaluated as a pre-condition," she said.
