NBC’s hit thrilling series The Blacklist returned with another heart-wrenching episode which left viewers surprised and emotional. After taking on their latest investigation, Raymond Reddington (played by James Spader) was forced to say goodbye to a trusted character.
This season of The Blacklist gave fans an insight into what Red had been up to in the aftermath of Liz Keen’s (Megan Boone) murder.
In episode one, viewers were introduced to the show’s newest characters Weecha Xiu (Diany Rodriguez) and Mierce Xiu (Karina Arroyave).
In the two-year time jump, Red went into hiding, left Dembe Zuma (Hisham Tawfiq), found Weecha and Mierce to look after his body and soul.
While the falling out between Dembe and Red has yet to be explored, the two sisters were helping him hide out whilst taking care of him.

After impressing with her gun skills Weecha took on the role of Red’s bodyguard, choosing to protect his body.
In episode four, fans watched the tense scene as she took out a room full of guards with her bare hands.
Mierce chose to look after his soul and it appeared the two had got close, in the episode titled ‘Benjamin T. Okara’ there were hints of a romantic relationship between the two.
Red was seen with his arm around Mierce and by the end of the episode, the pair were in bed together.
The latest episode of The Blacklist saw the emotional scene where Mierce said her final goodbyes to Red.
As a trusted character, she helped Red heal while he grieved the loss of Liz and their romantic relationship put him on a new path.
However, he wasn’t able to let go of the past just yet as Red was able to tie up some loose ends from the night of Liz’s death using Elias VanDyke’s (Lukas Hassel) phone.
When he confessed this to Mierce, it was clear he couldn’t move on and focus on his healing journey, so she decided to say goodbye.

The scene left viewers emotional as they were upset to see Mierce leave for good and they took to Twitter to share this.
Kristine6ix confessed: “Red and Mierce breaking my heart.”
While Wpete89 added: “I hate that Mierce is leaving Red. But she’s right. Revenge is consuming him.”
Kiss_my_freckle tweeted: “I’m pissed off that Mierce is gone. They better not take Weecha, at least let us keep one of them.”
However, Spaderisms_TLH was glad to see the back of her and tweeted: “Red chose Liz over Mierce and that makes me really emotional/happy.”
The end of the episode revealed VanDyke was actually responsible for Liz’s murder and claimed it was becasue Dembe failed to protect the scene.
This proved, if Dembe had done so, there was a chance Red could have stopped VanDyke and potentially prevented Liz’s brutal murder.
With this revelation, fans will soon be able to see how Red will deal with Dembe, especially as they’re not on good terms.
The Blacklist continues Thursdays on NBC.
