Appearing on Strictly Come Dancing’s spin-off show, It Takes Two, the 26-year-old became visibly emotional as she discussed the dance with host Rylan Clark-Neal. The EastEnders star admitted she hadn’t been expecting to score one nine, let alone nines across the board from all of the judges. She held back tears as she confessed: “I don’t know what to say.”
“(It was) unbelievable,” Rylan commented as he discussed the couple’s Foxtrot, which was themed on Titanic for movie week.
He went on: “10 more points than last week. Did you ever think you were going to do that dance and walk away with 10 points up on previous?”
“No,” Rose replied. “I genuinely thought I would get maybe a seven or eight but really didn’t expect a nine.”
The presenter asked: “How did it feel?”
The actress appeared to still be in shock as she managed to say: “Lovely feeling, it’s really good.”
She continued: “It’s nice… with all the work I’ve done.”
“Rewarding,” Giovanni cut in as Rose looked lost for words, “it’s rewarding.”
“Yes!” the talented dancer responded. “It’s rewarding – that’s the word.”
Spotting Rose’s tears, Rylan commented: “I can see you getting emotional because it seemed like it meant so much to you.”
“Yeah,” she admitted. “Because I feel I can prove that I can do it and it’s nice that everyone can see… I – I don’t know.”
Rose laughed as she added: “I don’t know what to say.”
“It was beautiful,” the host remarked. “And Anton said that the performance took him back to when he danced to Titanic with Ann Widdecombe – so I just wanted to bring up a little still from that dance.”
He showed the couple a photo of Anton and the former MP mid-dance.
“The only difference was the tie,” Giovanni joked.
“No, I think it’s a completely different vibe, let’s put it that way,” he added.
This Saturday, the couple will be dancing the Cha Cha to Prince’s Raspberry Beret.
Having confessed she prefers ballroom, Rylan asked Rose how she felt going back to a Latin dance.
“No, I still really like Latin, but I have to improve on that,” the Frankie Lewis star explained.
“I think it’s because I’ve got a lot of things going on in my mind, because I have to count and dance at the same time.
“But it’s good, I can try and improve it,” she concluded as Giovanni added: “You can definitely improve it, it’s a journey.”
It Takes Two airs weekdays at 6.30pm on BBC, while Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.45pm.
