Steve Martin admits he's been wearing plastic gloves amid coronavirus fears

Steve Martin admitted on The One Show that he’s been wearing plastic gloves while touring the UK amid coronavirus fears.

Speaking to Alex Jones and Matt Baker along with his pal and comedian and Martin Short, the actor explained that they booked their tour before the ‘crisis started’.

The duo are currently taking their stand-up comedy act to Scotland, Ireland, and London, although it wasn’t long before the hosts quizzed them on the coronavirus outbreak.

And it wasn’t long before Alex quizzed Steve about a photo of him wearing plastic gloves during the tour.

‘We are travelling through airports and things and flying around there is an epidemic,’ he began.

‘You are the wisest for doing that,’ Martin quipped.

Steve continued: ‘I have a family and I want to get home.’

Matt then asked: ‘Did you think twice about coming over here?’

‘We were actually booked before the crisis started and it started to grow as we were leaving,’ Steve added.

The virus has become a global health concern after cases have been confirmed in countries all over the world and continue to increase.

It was reported earlier today (Tuesday) that MTV Reality Con was cancelled due to the ongoing outbreak.

The three-day event was set to take place in London between 8 and 10 of May, but has now been cancelled because of fears over coronavirus.

It was set to celebrate the best of reality TV, with fan favourites such as Joey Essex, Charlotte Crosby, Love Island’s Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen and Ex On The Beach’s Lateysha Grace making an appearance over the weekend.

A source told The Sun: ‘MTV would rather be safe than sorry. And the safety of the fans and talent comes first.’

A spokesperson for MTV confirmed that Reality Con has been postponed and now won’t go ahead until 2021.

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC1.
