The new series of Top Gear began last week with an intense drag race before the presenters took off to Silverstone to face three Formula 1 drivers. On Sunday’s episode of the BBC series, hosts Freddie Flintoff, Paddy McGuinness, and Chris Harris were given the challenge to find the future of caravanning. As the trio set up for their night of camping, they were first given the challenge to race their electric cars whilst eating the world’s hottest chillis. As Paddy took his turn, it seemed the heat was too much for him as he began to lose control of the car, forcing co-presenter Freddie to take the wheel.

As they began to set up their futuristic caravans, they were handed a card which detailed their first challenge.

Reading the card, Freddie said: “Which electric car has the spiciest performance, to find out it’s time for some hot laps.”

During the time trial race, the trio had to drive five laps against the clock, but with each lap completed, they had to eat a chilli.

Starting with the jalapeño, they would gradually climb the Scoville heat units until they reached the hottest chilli, the Carolina Reaper.

The winner would be the contestant who completed their laps in the fastest time or who could go furthest without using the ‘cool’ bag, which included milk and yoghurt to help with the heat.

Upon Paddy’s turn, Freddie laughed: “Look at the face on him,” as Paddy replied: “Oh god! I am chicken Korma man in my house.”

Trying to calm Paddy’s nerves, Chris implied: “Savour it, it might be an experience you love,” to which Paddy immediately scorned: “I won’t love it.”

As Freddie started the timer and Paddy set off on the race, he took the first bite out of the jalapeño, which soon seemed already too much for Paddy.

Freddie exclaimed: “Keep your eyes on the road, Pad!” as he began to steer the car off of the designated racing area.

Trying to win the race through speed, Paddy left Freddie and Chris being thrown around the car, to which Freddie said: “He’s hurting! He looks bad!

Struggling with the first chilli, the boys were soon judging how much of the chilli he was eating, to which Paddy yelled back: “It was a seed, you don’t eat watermelon seeds, do you!

“So why should I start eating these seeds, I am eating the chilli!” to which he gave the stem back to Freddie and continued the challenge.

The birds-eye chilli was up next and left Paddy yelling in pain and holding onto Freddie, to which he exclaimed: “Steer! Steer!

“Eat it, left, left, left!!” as he managed to take control of the car whilst Paddy was already unbuckling his seat belt.

As his part of the challenge came to an end, he grabbed the pint of milk they had been given but ended up spitting it all over Freddie, who was next to him.

Laughing at Paddy’s expense and the mess he had just got himself in, Freddie joked: “You’re milking it now, Paddy, you’re milking it!”

The boys were also left in hysterics when Freddie managed to eat all the hot peppers including the Carolina Reaper.

As they came to the end of the race, Freddie exclaimed repeatedly: “I’m in trouble, I’m in trouble now!

“I’m in trouble lads, I don’t even drink milk,” he exclaimed as he sprinted out of the car and dived onto the floor.

Trying to help, Chris and Paddy offered him milk and yoghurt but were left crying with tears are Freddie’s reaction to the chilli.

Top Gear airs Sunday’s at 8pm on BBC One.
