Silent Witness fans have loved watching the relationship between Nikki Alexander (played by actress Emilia Fox) and Jack Hodgson (David Caves) over the eight years. Once again, the duo will be hard at work when series 24 begins tomorrow, Monday, September 6, on BBC One. As the pair grow even closer together, this could be the series that sees sparks fly between the forensic pathologists.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Silent Witness.
Jack was first introduced in Silent Witness back in 2013, at the start of season 16.
He was hired by the Lyell Centre and, in turn, his long-term friend Clarissa xx (Liz Carr) also joined the team to work in the lab.
Jack and Nikki’s friendship was firstly based on humour, but over time, they have learned to trust one another, especially during some of the most difficult investigations.
Now, with Clarissa no longer working with them, this will push Jack and Nikki to spend even more time together.

The start of season 24 is going to see the return of Scott Weston (Elliott Tittensor), who was a shooter that went on a rampage at a university a decade ago.
As Nikki once again comes face to face with him, she is going to need Jack’s help more than ever.
This is just the start of a troublesome season for Nikki, as actress Emilia Fox teased that her character is going to make some “mistakes” this time around.
She also hinted at the possibility that this may very well be the series where Nikki and Jack take their friendship to the next level.
Speaking to press, including Express.co.uk, Fox stated how there will be a shift in their relationship.
She said: “I would say Nikki makes some mistakes along the way in this series and gets caught up in some things which make life a bit complicated.
“And her relationship with Jack becomes very, very, key, particularly at the end of the series, and working out what they mean to each other.”
When pushed further by Express.co.uk, Fox hinted further at what could happen.

When does Silent Witness return? [RELEASE DATE]
She added: “We never, ever know the answer to this at the beginning of the series.
“What we can tell you is that the end of series 24 is picked up directly after, by the beginning of series 25.”
Silent Witness has already been renewed for a season 25, so there is no need to worry about the show’s future just yet.
Series 25 will mark the drama’s 25th anniversary, so it is expected there will be some major storylines involved.
If the end of season 24 connects to series 25, could it be that Nikki and Jack will get together in the upcoming season finale?
This would be a great way to start off the anniversary series, something which fans have been waiting several years to see.
But for now at least, viewers are going to have to wait to find out if there is more than just friendship to the characters’ dynamic.
Silent Witness season 24 premieres tomorrow night, Monday, September 6, at 9pm on BBC One.
