Power Book III: Raising Kanan: Starz releases trailer
Starz drama Power Book III: Raising Kanan will be hitting screens later this year, marking the second spin-off from Power. The show has a very different flavour to both the original series and the first spin-off Power Book II: Ghost. But could the series see some original cast members turning up at some point?
Will Tasha appear in Raising Kanan?
There is no word yet about actress Naturi Naughton reprising her role as Tasha St Patrick in Power Book III: Raising Kanan.
But this isn’t to say she couldn’t show up in the programme in the future.
Tasha’s future on Power seemed to be uncertain after she was taken into witness protection when it looked like a vengeful Tommy Egan (played by Joseph Sikora) was coming after her.
Tommy wanted to take Tasha out after she named him in court for killing James ‘Ghost’ St Patrick (Omari Hardwick) and to stop him her son Tariq St Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.).

Nonetheless, Power’s creator Courtney Kemp did tell Deadline: “My hope is that much like the Marvel universe, the characters from each one will pop up as Easter eggs or additional fun for the audience.”
Although this isn’t confirmation of Naughton appearing in Raising Kanan, it does open the door for the possibility.
If anything, a young Tasha could turn up in Raising Kanan but this is likely to be much further down the line.
There have also been questions about whether Hardwick and 50 Cent could be appearing in Raising Kanan – again, if this happens it will be at a later stage.
Kemp addressed the possibility of 50 Cent in the prequel, saying: “I would love to see all different versions of that, to be honest with you, but I want to make sure that Raising Kanan itself has an opportunity to be its own series and not make that compete, with Ghost.
“But yes, it would be great to have 50 in as much as we can and make sure that there’s room for Raising Kanan to really succeed.”
Therefore, there could be some flash-forwards at a distant point in the future.
For now, Raising Kanan is going to be a period piece set in the 1990s and the focus to be on the teenage version of Kanan (Mekai Curtis) and his family.

Viewers will see the formation of the notorious Power drug dealer and rival to Ghost.
They will also see how he became the man who had the lack of morals to murder his own son and how a character like this is melded.
There could also be an appearance from the elusive and deceased mentor Breeze, who introduced Ghost and Kanan to street life.
Fans have already glimpsed young iterations of Ghost (Chris Sumpter), Tommy (Ethan Cutowsky) and Angela Valdes (Camila Lopez).
The writer expanded on Raising Kanan and what fans could expect, saying: “It’s a very different show in terms of pacing and feel.
“It does feel like Power, you definitely feel the Power of that in that show, the capital P Power, but it also has its own small p power in the story that it’s telling and in its time and you want to make sure that the audience feels that as well.”
More details are likely to emerge over the coming months as well as full trailer dropping.
For now, audiences will have to make do with the snippets featured in the music video for the theme song for Raising Kanan called Part of the Game.
