Netflix responds as Squid Game phone number owner is flooded with 4k calls a day

Netflix has reacted to claims that a person has had their phone number revealed during one of their new shows.

The streaming service recently launched the new show Squid Game, which is currently trending as number one in the UK and Netflix's most-watched list.

However, one person has received up to 4,000 calls per day since the show aired.

The person who has been referred to as ‘A’ had been inundated with calls.

Speaking to Money Today, the person explained how these nuisance calls are disrupting their life.

The person said: "I have been receiving calls and texts endlessly, 24/7, to the point that it's hard for me to go on with daily life.

"This is a number that I've been using for more than 10 years, so I'm quite taken aback."

She continued: "It's to the point where due to people reaching out without a sense of day and night due to their curiosity.

"Some 4,000 phone calls come in every day. I did not even realize what was going on as I did not watch the series. Someone who prank called me told me that the number was featured on the show."

The calls have become so much for ‘A’ that it forces their phone to drain and their battery to die.

The unfortunate person’s phone number is revealed in the first episode of the popular game show where a business card is shown with the phone number on it.

The number phone is featured in Squid Game so people can call it to become involved in the games.

However, it has sadly backfired on ‘A’ and Netflix.

Squid Game is a South Korean TV series which sees a group of people trying to survive all for the sake of winning a grand prize pot of money.

The contestants have to take part in challenges and if they fail the tasks set for them then they are out of the game.

Squid Game already has a 100 per cent rating on the review site Rotten Tomatoes.

Since ‘A’ has come forward about the claim, Netflix admitted there was nothing they could do about it.

Squid Game’s production company also released a statement in response to ‘A’.

They said: "We are trying to solve this through continued phone calls and face-to-face meetings between the owner of the number and the production company."
