Kerry Katona has quit the latest series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins after a harrowing two episodes of the Channel 4 show left her feeling she couldn’t continue to be “shouted at”.

The 41 year old mum-of-five bowed out of the gruelling military-style course after struggling to complete 50 press-ups.

The former Atomic Kitten singer has said she couldn’t handle the intensity of the instructors and at one stage, Chief DS Ant Middleton’s words transported her back to being shouted at by her ex-husband, the late George Kay.

“There was one point where Ant grabbed me and he said: ‘You've got f***ing more to prove than anybody else, just own that,’” Kerry told The Mirror.

“I couldn't sleep that night. He didn't mean to… he just kind of catapulted me back to when George used to spit in my face.”

The reality star went on to explain that she’d had enough of the course and couldn’t force herself to go any further, as the mental challenges were simply too difficult to endure.

“I did not need to continue to be shouted at, and fail, and collapse, and get told, ‘Oh you’re sh**,’” she said.

“I’ve been through all that in real life.”

OK! has contacted representatives for Channel 4 and Ant Middleton.

George Kay died in 2019 age 39 from a cocaine overdose. The former couple divorced two years prior, in 2017.

Viewers watched Sunday night as Kerry was ordered to perform 50 press-ups with the rest of her team as a forfeit after Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison failed to follow instructions.

Unable to bear the pain, Kerry gave up as DS Anthony Stazicker yelled: “Get off your knees number one [Kerry]! If you don’t want to be here, stand up.”

Kerry, who said she was "going into hiding" after her debut on the show, took her armband off and handed it over, telling Ant the experience had been “amazing” but she was done.

“I have actually loved it. I've never looked at myself as a failure, but you kick yourself if you can't do something,” the reality star said to camera with tears in her eyes. “I might not have come in first but I've got from the bottom to the top and then back to the bottom.

“But then in the next breath I'll say, ‘It is what it is.’ If you don't achieve it, work harder.”

Sharing an update with fans on her social media, Kerry, who was also seen breaking down about her abusive ex in the first episode, told her Instagram followers she was “hanging her head in shame” after revealing she wasn’t made for the SAS.

The star then added seriously: “Nah even in the little time I was in there which felt like a forever.. I realised I never have to prove myself to anyone ever again!

“I am me! Take it or leave it! I’ve gotten through so much sh** in real life… and I’m actually proud of myself!” Kerry added proudly.
