Jeremy Clarkson is starring in his latest Amazon Prime Video series, Clarkson’s Farm, which has gone down a huge hit with viewers. The former Top Gear presenter swapped city life for the countryside as he took on the running of his 1,000-acre farm. Fans are keen to find out the location of the farm and the history of the picturesque area.
Where is Chipping Norton?
Clarkson’s Farm follows The Grand Tour presenter as he takes on the biggest challenge of his life so far.
He acquired some farmland in 2008, but only recently decided to manage the land himself following the previous farmer’s retirement.
Knowing nothing about the world of agriculture, he aptly named the land Diddly Squat Farm.
Residents came from far and wide to visit the location, as well as the newly-opened Diddly Squat Farm Shop.
The farm is located in Chipping Norton – a market town located in the quintessentially British Cotswolds.
Chipping Norton is Oxfordshire’s biggest town, and it was known for its wool trading in the 15th century.
The area is known for its great wool church of St Mary – one of the finest buildings of its kind in the area.
The town is home to The Almshouses, a Town Hall, a museum and a theatre – a rarity for a town of this size.
According to the 2019 census, a total of 6,254 people lived in the town.
Fans have come to love the area depicted in the Clarkson’s Farm series, and Clarkson himself remains in awe of the location.
In the series, he decided to set up a conservation area to preserve natural beauty.
However, it did not come without its problems and resulted in tearing up most of the land with his cumbersome tractor.
His girlfriend, Lisa Hogan, was not impressed with the state he left the land in, and land agent Charlie Ireland held the same view.
At the end of the series, Clarkson debated whether to throw in the towel and head back to London after suffering huge losses.
But, due to his newfound love of farming and appreciation for the work that goes into it, he decided to stay.
Fans can get a better idea of the farm’s location by searching for the Diddly Squat Farm Shop website.
The site lists the address as 5-12 Chipping Norton Road, Chadlington, Chipping Norton, OX7 3PE.
Business is booming at the shop as a result of the Amazon Prime Video series and Clarkson thanked fans for their support.
The shop has since started working with The Branch Trust, helping local residents through the coronavirus pandemic.
Clarkson loved the town for its close sense of community and other contributors in the series certainly feel the same.
Farm manager Kaleb Cooper is known for his love of the countryside and his devotion to his work.
He admitted he had only ever left Chadlington once, on a school trip, and refused to get off the coach.
The young farming contractor said he would much rather be out on his own in the fields than surrounded by crowds.
Over the course of the series, Clarkson started to understand Kaleb’s point of view.
Clarkson’s Farm is airing on Prime Video.
