The Great British Bake Off star Prue Leith CBE has let fans have a sneak peek into her brightly coloured home including a bright yellow kitchen.

The 81-year-old returned to our screens on Tuesday with the latest series of the Channel 4 baking show alongside Paul Hollywood, Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas.

The star has been keeping busy offscreen by decorating her new home with her husband, John Playfair.

Prue often shows her fondness for colourful clothing and her home reflects that with the walls painted bright colours.

Her clothes-designing husband shares her love for brightness and the pair have ensured their whole house is colourful.

"Luckily my husband loves colour as much as me which is why the whole house is FULL of colour," Prue wrote to her Instagram fans in February.

For the kitchen that Prue calls the “most important room in the house”, she has chosen a shade of sunshine yellow that decorates the walls, cupboard and even curtains.

The spacey kitchen centres around a huge kitchen island with yellow drawers and cupboards, matching the yellow flowery blinds.

On top of the island is a huge utensils holder, to carry all of Prue’s spices, kitchen tools and baking implements.

She also has all the baking ingredients the Bake Off contestants could ever need, neatly stacked on yellow shelves.

A huge dining table and alternating yellow and green chairs finish off the stylish and joyful room.

Prue said of her bright kitchen earlier this year: "It’s important our kitchens reflect our personality – for me that means injecting a bit of colour.”

The rest of the house is similarly decorated, with a red painted wall in the living room for a pop of colour and pale pink velvet sofas.

A huge bookshelf can be seen laden down with books, while art hangs from the walls and is displayed on coffee tables throughout the room.

Prue showed another room that has walls painted a dark teal and was covered from top to bottom in gorgeous artwork and photographs for a personal touch.

"Creating this dream home has been so exciting. From a blank page to this," Prue added.
