Simon (played by Alex Bain) got mixed up in Harvey’s (Will Mellor) gang earlier this year, but became the Coronation Street villain’s prime target after exposing him to the police. Harvey’s lawyer Sabeen Habeeb (Zora Bishop) has been working on Harvey’s appeal, and went as far as blackmailing ex-husband Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) for evidence to help her case. Simon’s aunt Toyah Bettersby (Georgia Taylor) exposed Sabeen, and Friday’s episode of the ITV soap saw Sabeen having to explain the situation to Harvey, who instantly became furious. Peter (Chris Gascoyne) made an appearance for the first time in a while as he talked the problem through with Simon. When a dangerous Harvey makes his escape next week, Peter might jump to Simon’s defence – and could end up dead.
Next week’s instalments of Coronation Street are set to be monumental, as days of terror unfold.
Among this will be the escape of Harvey, who has vengeance in mind.
The criminal soon ends up making a dramatic return to the street, hunting down those he is plotting revenge against.
After discovering Toyah was also a Battersby, a family he blames for being inside, Harvey was raging.
The whole family will likely be on his radar, but it all started with Simon – and he provided Imran with the information.
“I don’t believe this,” Harvey hissed as Sabeen explained what had happened.
“Imran Habeeb’s partner messed up,” the lawyer explained.
“It was Toyah Battersby who reported our connection.” The criminal leaned in, commenting: “Woah, woah woah.”
He added: “Battersby -she’s?” Sabeen confirmed: “Leanne’s sister.”
“Leanne Battersby’s sister has spiked my appeal… that’s what you’re telling me?”
Simon panicked once he realised what was going on.
Peter commented: “If he was here…” as Toyah replied: “I’m not defending him – I’m just as mad as you are.”
Simon anxiously asked: “If Sabeen’s that ent [WHAT WORD SHOULD THIS BE?] what’s to stop her blabbing to Harvey that it was me who provided the information in the first place?
“Imran swore down that he’d keep my name out of it. I feel so stupid.”
Peter advised the teenager not to mention anything to Leanne.
Taking on the burden alone, it seems Peter is willing to do anything to save Simon from further trouble.
Never one to let things slide though, Harvey makes a dramatic escape from prison, and the Battersbys’ worst nightmare comes true.
With the villain let loose on the cobbles, which is busy with Halloween celebrations, will he be able to track down Simon?
Harvey is a dangerous character and has spent months in prison brooding over his enemies.
He is definitely not likely to show any mercy to the teenager who put him there.
But with Simon and Peter knowing what might happen once they hear of Harvey’s escape, it’s likely the former will go rushing to Simon’s aid.
He may suggest the schoolboy hides away, but a determined Harvey will probably get to him first.
Peter has only recently recovered from surgery after believing he would die if he couldn’t get a transplant.
Luckily, he managed to get one – but he may be in grave danger again.
Spotting Simon in Harvey’s path, Peter will probably run after them.
Harvey is likely to be armed and ready to attack whoever stands in his way.
If he tries to hurt Simon, Peter may well jump in front of whichever weapon Harvey has to protect his only son.
After years of highs and lows in Weatherfield, will Peter die in front of his son’s eyes?
Coronation Street continues on Monday at 8pm on ITV.
