Charlie Stayt hits back at Naga Munchetty’s jibe on BBC Breakfast ‘No!’

The BBC Breakfast presenters were discussing today’s headlines, and one was focused on the simple act of urging people to smile at one another more. When Naga asked for how this might look suggesting Charlie demonstrate, he refused with a simple “no” and moved swiftly on.

“If there’s not many people you’re passing by, smile and say hello,” Charlie explained. Naga asked: “Could you show me how that looks?”

“No,” Charlie responded and his co-star laughed: “Gone on.”

Charlie continued: “And there will be times at which that’s appropriate and I kind of get the sense of it there, if you’re just constantly grinning and smiling at people – I’m not sure.”

Naga said: “Only you could turn smiling at people to something slightly sinister.”

He quipped back: “You know what I mean – everyone knows!”
