Amy Dowden shares health update after missing Strictly due to Crohn’s flare up

Professional dancer Amy Dowden has shared her recent health scare after she suffered a sudden Crohn’s flare up and was forced to pull out of Saturday night’s performance of Strictly Come Dancing.

The 31-year-old updated her loyal legion of fans from the comfort of her former dance partner Tom Fletcher’s home after he offered to take her in following her terrifying hospital dash before the show went live.

After a hectic weekend, the Welsh beauty gave fans a glimpse into the impact that her ongoing health struggle has had on her body.

Luckily, the blonde bombshell was surrounded by her close friends and family to help her get through the rough patch.

And as she slowly recovered enough to get back to the comfort of her own bed, Amy reached out to her loving friends to thank them for all their help online.

Alongside a series of snaps which summarised her traumatic weekend, the pro dancer shared a lengthy healthy update on Instagram.

She penned: “Thanks for all the messages over the weekend. Unfortunately, I was missing from the show as I had an unexpected Crohn’s flare up and hospital admission in which I received unbelieved care.

“I’m recovering very well and certainly being well looked after and look forward to returning to the dance floor.

“Big thanks to lovely @saradaviescc and @tomfletcher for taking care of me (of all the days to be poorly, Ben was in Blackpool with the dance school),” she joked.

But despite feeling worse than ever, Amy still found time to snuggle up with tom’s children and read them a bedtime story as they looked after her in her hour of need.

She explained: “To the Fletchers who made sure I had everything and more at the hospital, have brought me back to theirs where the whole family are giving me all the love, care, burnt toast (Tom), unlimited supply of @mrsgifletcher clothes along with @tomfletcher sock choice you could possibly need, lots of drawings and pretend injections from my new doctors, Bizz Buddy and Max.

“Thank you, they really were sent to me,” she added.

And her celebrity pals soon flooded her comments section to pass on their well wishes as she continues to rest and recuperate at home.

Sara Davies gave fans an insight into the terrifying moment Amy was rushed off to hospital, as she replied: “Omg you’re looking so much better than when I last saw you as we closed the doors on the ambulance as they carted you off on Friday night and me and Tom were just watching them drive off into the night with tears in our eyes!”

Katya Jones added: “You meet people for a reason!!! I’m so glad they were there to look after you Amy!! Love you lots, recover soon,” with a love heart emoji.

Graziano di Prima as well as many other Strictly stars flooded her comments section with heart emojis as they passed on their well wishes on the popular social media platform.
