Jasmine Harman had a tough challenge on her hands in the latest A Place in the Sun as she helped Marcelle and Graeme, a newly-wed couple from Newcastle find a holiday home in Malaga. The pair explained they were hoping to find a a place they loved and weren’t wasting time searching for their dream property after Marcelle’s cancer diagnosis.

The beauty consultant from Newcastle explained she had married Graeme just six months before they began their search for a holiday home.

Their wedding had to be postponed after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Marcelle explained: “Well it came as a shock, I had breast cancer, we had planned the wedding and it came out the blue.”

Graeme added: “Fortunately it was caught early enough.”

As a result, Marcelle and Graeme didn’t want to wait too long before finding their dream home abroad.

Unfortunately things didn’t get off to the best of starts as Jasmine failed to impress with the first two properties she found.

The first apartment which was £122,458 but Marcelle and Graeme explained it was “too small” and the kitchen wasn’t big enough to entertain the family.

The second was also disappointing however, the couple fell in love with property number three.

Marcella said: “It seems very airy and spacious. I can just imagine us being here.

“Everything is close at hand and that walk down to the beach, it’s just what dreams are made of.”

As Marcelle began to tear up, Jasmine hugged her before asking: “When you were ill, did you ever think you would get to this point where you’re thinking, ‘This might be our future place.’”

“We did talk about it,” Marcelle replied as she began crying.

Jasmine comforted: “I know, it’s so hard to talk about it,” as Graeme explained: “We were looking forward to this.

“After getting her operating in August, it’s been upwards since then. It’s what we needed after a bad, last year was a ying-yang year.”

At the end of the episode, Graeme revealed they had decided to put in an offer on property number three, which was on the market for just under £126,000.

Their first offer of £115,000 was rejected and the buyer refused to meet them at anything less than £123,000.

While Marcelle feared they wouldn’t be able to afford the property, Graeme surprised his new wife by declaring they would cut a deal at £122,000.

The buyer had agreed to lower the price and included the furnishings and fittings in the property.

Marcella broke down in tears as she hugged her husband, thankful they had found her dream holiday home.

She asked Jasmine: “How gorgeous is he?”

The host replied: “You’ve found yourself a good one there, not just a husband but also a great property.”
