In the description of the update, Apple says: ‘In rare circumstances, Apple Pay and other NFC features may become unavailable in iPhone 15 models after wireless charging in certain cars.’
While Apple does not name the make of cars associated with this bug, users have reported that it is frequent in some BMW and Toyota Supra vehicles.
While the update is available to all iPhone models produced since 2018, it is only the most recent iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max models that are affected.
Apple also notes that the update fixes another bug, saying: ‘Weather Lock Screen widget may not correctly display snow’.
Users noticed that the weather widget displayed a file icon rather than the symbol for snow as well as a dashed line appearing through the weather notification.
To download the update, simply open the Settings app on your iPhone, select General, and then choose Software Update.
Some users found a bug which caused the snow icon to be replaced with the symbol for a file on the weather widget

At only 390.6 MB, the update is fairly small and will not take long to download and install over a good WiFi connection.
This update comes less than three weeks since the release of iOS 17.1 which included large updates to Airdrop and the Apple Music Library.
It also comes just weeks before the expected launch of iOS 17.2, sparking speculation that Apple may have rushed out this latest update to fix the Apple Pay bug.
Apple made the beta version of iOS 17.2 available for developers in late October and its release is expected sometime in December.
Meanwhile, Apple has reportedly paused the development of major software updates to fix existing bugs.
Apple pulled software engineers off projects addressing next year’s big software updates so they could focus on ensuring that current software was free of glitches, Bloomberg reports.
Apple has also released updates for the Mac, HomePod, and Apple Watch today.
The Apple Watch update, named 10.1.1, is aimed at fixing a common bug which caused users’ battery to drain suddenly.
Some users reported that their Watch lost its entire charge in only hours due to a software issue.
