The pandemic seems to have killed off my five-year relationship

DEAR DEIDRE: THE pandemic seems to have killed off my relationship after five years together.

My girlfriend is 25, I’m 27. We live two hours apart by car and the first lockdown meant we couldn’t see one another.

She felt she lost her love for me and saw me now as just a close friend.

I tried to rekindle things over the summer but now we can’t meet again.

DEIDRE SAYS: You need to get more information.

Being unable to see one another, even for several months, wouldn’t in itself kill a strong relationship.

Think of military couples who can be apart far longer.

Maybe you let the sexual flame die.

That could be rekindled, if she is willing, by getting sexy online and getting hormones flowing.

Or maybe there have long been underlying issues she has not brought up before.

Ask her to be more frank with you about what has gone wrong – then maybe you can sort it.
