Fifth time’s the charm.
Nicolas Cage has married again, according to the Daily Mail.
Cage wed his girlfriend Riko Shibata in Vegas at the Wynn hotel and casino. The two have been together since shortly after the dissolution of Cage’s last marriage — to Erika Koike, in 2019 — which lasted four days.
Shortly before the pandemic shut down New York, the two were spotted on a date at Tavern on the Green, where they “didn’t talk much” but made sure to “drink lavishly,” before taking a carriage ride around Central Park, having already taken in the Museum of Natural History earlier in the week.
A Nevada marriage certificate obtained by DM puts the date of their exchange of vows as Feb. 16, and notes that Riko has taken Cage’s name and is now Riko Cage, which does have a nice ring to it.
Again according to the Mail, Cage, who proposed via FaceTime and FedExed Riko’s ring to Japan, announced their engagement in August on his brother Marc Coppola’s radio show.
“She left New York and went back to Kyoto, Japan, and I went back to Nevada and I haven’t seen her for six months,” he told Marc. “We’re really happy together and we’re really excited to spend that time together so I finally just said, ”Look, I wanna marry you” and we got engaged on FaceTime.”
At 26, Riko is four years younger than the 57-year-old Cage’s first son Weston. It’s her first marriage.
Cage memorably claimed in court documents that he “lacked understanding of his actions in marrying [Koike] to the extent that he was incapable of agreeing to the marriage.” That was his fourth divorce; he was married to Patricia Arquette from 1995 to 2001, Lisa Marie Presley from 2002 to 2004 and Alice Kim from 2004 to 2016.
Cage was most recently seen in Netflix’s “History of Swear Words” and is set to play “Tiger King” Joe Exotic in Amazon’s forthcoming scripted adaptation of the wildlife saga.
Page Six has reached out to Cage’s reps for confirmation.
