A single mum-of-two has revealed how she lost an impressive 28 kilograms in just one year, despite putting on weight during the tough coronavirus lockdowns.
Photographer and business owner Amy Page, 39, lives in Wagga Wagga in New South Wales but is originally from Darwin in the Northern Territory.
After moving to Wagga Wagga in January 2020, Amy said she was worried about experiencing her ‘first winter in 15 years’, particularly when the coronavirus pandemic hit in March and gyms were closed.
But despite putting on an additional 15 kilos during the pandemic, Amy managed to lose 28kg in body fat across 2020, and now weighs just 75 kilograms today.

* It helps to follow challenges seasonally to keep you motivated and also give you downtime.
* Eat as much protein as possible, and make sure every meal and snack has some form of protein.
* Treat yourself to a little of what you love to avoid feeling deprived.
* Embrace incidental exercise, all of which helps – like walking up stairs instead of the escalator.
‘I feel the best I’ve felt since my early 20s,’ Amy told FEMAIL.
‘One of my goals was to wear shorts again, which I’ve achieved, but I also wanted to develop a body that I love, which I feel like I’ve achieved.
‘I feel good about dressing again, wearing shorts or a dress without Spanx. And my non-perfect butt is normal and beautiful.’
To lose the weight, Amy visited the popular gym franchise, 12RND.
12RND Fitness is a high-intensity boxing workout designed to maximise results over 12 different rounds of working out.
‘We deliver a functional and highly varied strength program, progressing through sports-specific training cycles that are guaranteed to get you in fighting shape,’ the gym description reads.
‘Our movements are athletic, you train like a professional boxer without having to be one.’

What is a typical day on Amy’s plate?
* BREAKFAST: Smoothie or eggs with toast, scrambled or fried.
* LUNCH: Protein, vegetables and carbohydrates in the form of a Mexican bowl or salmon with sweet potato and broccoli.
* SNACKS: Protein ball or muffin.
* DINNER: Pea and ham soup or a lean meat burger with a side salad and vegetables.

‘When the gyms shut in March and it got colder, I had a bit of a falter and the hot soup, bread and butter, wine and chocolate while wrapped in an electric blanket won out,’ Amy said.
‘But otherwise, I eat a lot of meals from the Training Camp meal plan that we get during the challenge.
‘The meals are nutrient-dense, filling but still really tasty.’
Examples include Mexican bowls, a lean meat burger or pea and ham soup.
‘I was pretty careful during the challenges to follow exactly what I should be eating, but now if my kids are eating something I’m tempted by, like cereal, then I let myself have a little bit,’ Amy said.
Within weeks of overhauling her diet and exercise regime, Amy said she saw results.
In the first training camp between February 3 and March 14 last year, she lost 9.4 kilograms, and 8.7kg of body fat.
In the second in July and August, she lost 12.6kg and 9.98kg of body fat.
By the time the third came around on 2 November, she lost 9.3kg or 9.66kg of body fat.
In total, Amy lost 28.34 kilograms and put on muscle.
‘Being a single mum drives me in my health and fitness goals,’ she said.
‘I want to be able to physically carry both my children (aged 3 and 4). Especially if there was a crisis, I want to know that I have the ability to save them.’

When she is not doing 12RND Fitness training camps, Amy said she takes things a ‘little more easy’.
‘I am more relaxed outside of challenges, but I still try to get to the club as often as possible, because it’s my social life,’ she said.
‘I try to train between four and five times per week, but no matter how many times I get there, I try to put as much as I can into every session.
’12RND for me isn’t just about physical fitness, it’s also my social life, my mental therapy and my fun and enjoyment.
‘It’s like going out and doing a dancing routine, but a boxing combo instead.’

‘You’ve got nothing to lose,’ she said.
‘For the rest of my life, I just want to be better. It’s not just about winning, it’s about me, where it’s rewarding for me and where I can inspire others with the changes I’ve made.
‘You can do it. Seasonal challenges where it’s on and off are great for maintaining results.’
