It was confirmed this morning that formerGirls AloudsingerSarah Hardingsadly lost her battle with breast cancer, aged 39.

It wasn’t long before the tributes came pouring in, with fans and stars sharing their sorrow over the Ascot-born singer’s death.

Although Sarah’s Girls Aloud bandmatesNadine Coyle ,Cheryl Tweedy ,Kimberley WalshandNicola Robertsare yet to share their own messages, there is no doubt the girls will be devastated by her passing.

It is known that there was tension among the band, but the girls reunited and shared outright support for Sarah following her cancer diagnosis.

Over the years, they have had a tricky relationship, but they have proven they'll always be there for one another when they're needed.

But what has happened between the girls over the years?

Nadine has always been the most vocal about the tension among the group.

In 2009, sources close to the Irish singer suggested relations between the five of them seemed “strained”.

“They all used to be such good mates when the band first started but now they have their own personal commitments”, the source told the Belfast Telegraph.

But in 2018, Nadine told a very different story when she spilled the tea to Celebrity Juice host Keith Lemon.

The then-33-year-old confirmed the group weren’t one big happy family like fans thought they were.

Apparently, there was no big bust up to speak of because they were never close.

“There was no falling out”, she said. “There was just no friendship to begin with”.

In an earlier interview inThe Sun , Nadine admitted her fellow band members were bitter because she “always got more vocals than anybody else”.

“You want everybody to think we’re best friends and we have pillow fights and, you know, drink milkshakes”, she said.

She added: “That’s what I wanted it to be. I really, really wanted that to be, but it just wasn’t how it was”.

However, when Sarah shared the tragic news of her breast cancer diagnosis, it seems their frosty relationship drastically improved as Sarah and her Girls Aloud bandmates reunited.

Sarah's fellow bandmates shared constant support for the singer in the year that followed, and they took to social media at the time to post their love.

She recalled her reunion with her friends in her book Hear Me Out which she released earlier this year,

In the book she confessed she had fears and reservations about the reunion, as it would be the first time in eight years they'd all seen one another.

Sarah confessed she enjoyed herself as she caught up with her pals, reminiscing on their differences over the years which led to their success.
