Google fans are facing a hugely frustrating afternoon with many services such as Drive, Gmail and Hangouts going offline. The tech gremlins appear to have started around 11.50am this morning with thousands still left unable to use these hugely popular services.
That means right now you can’t send emails, chat on hangouts or access any files on your Google Drive.
Along with Gmail, Hangouts and Drive.. it also appears that Google search itself is having problems as well the YouTube and the firm’s Nest video security service.
Data from independent website DownDetector, which tracks the server status of online services based on mentions across social media, has been showing thousands of Google users unable to access many of its services. At its peak, some 17,000 Gmail users were complaining every minute about being unable to send messages. Google Drive is showing over 5,000 reports and Meet 1,000.
It seems most of the issues are hitting the UK and Europe with only a few reports currently surfacing in the US.
Many users are now heading to forums and social media to find out what is causing the glitch with one Google fan saying: “Gmail is down, cannot log into anything at the moment …”
As you might have guessed, Google is now trending on Twitter with hundreds of tweets being posted every second.
One fan tweeted: “Is Gmail down in Europe? It’s not working. Whilst another said: “@gmail Gmail is not working for me currently, as well as fellow users I’ve asked.
