Elvis Presley was shipped off to Germany when he joined the army on March 24, 1958. Although the star was far away from his fiancée at the time, Priscilla Presley, he wasn’t alone. As his fame was growing ever larger, Elvis was forced to employ someone to respond to the endless piles of fan mail. The 19-year-old woman he employed was Elisabeth Stefaniak, a local German girl who quickly, allegedly, engaged in her own romantic relationship with the Jailhouse Rock star.
Elisabeth spent a lot of time with Elvis during his time in the army, as she was his personal secretary.
While it wasn’t ever truly confirmed, it was heavily rumoured at the time that she and Elvis spent a some years together romantically.
Elisabeth spent so much time with Elvis that she saw many sides of the young rock and roll star – including some of his darker side.
During an interview in 2008, Elisabeth explained how she witnessed the star’s infamous rage first hand.
Whilst talking about her time with the King of Rock n Roll, Elisabeth confirmed: “I did see a little bit of his temper sometimes.”
Going on to explain exactly what she meant, Elisabeth said: “Mostly when he would say some harsh things to you.
“I mean I never saw him throw things at me but he could say some hurting things.”
The former lover then went on to recall a time when Elvis got “ticked off” with her.
Elisabeth revealed: “One time we went into [German town] Bad Nauheim because he wanted to buy some things and he also wanted to buy me some clothes.
“While there he chose a particular trashcan he liked for his bathroom.
“We were in the store I said to him ‘Elvis, you already have a basket in your bathroom.’”
Elisabeth then explained how she felt she had said the wrong thing, and sent Elvis into a fury.

Elisabeth continued: “Well that was the wrong thing to say!
“He turned to me and said: ‘Don’t you ever tell me what to buy or not to buy. If I want to buy a thousand trashcans …’”
She added: “We walked out the store and that was when he said: ‘I was going to buy you some clothes but you ticked me off’
“Then for two days he didn’t speak to me very much.”
This wasn’t the only instance of Elvis’ anger, as it was previously recounted that the star became angry at his fiancée Priscilla when rumours came out about his apparent affair with Ann-Margret.
Shortly after the rumours were outed in the press, Priscilla confronted Elvis.
To which he reportedly yelled: “Look, damn it! I didn’t know this was going to get out of hand.
“I want a woman who’s going to understand that things like this might just happen. Are you going to be her or not?”
