  • MORNING, MAN UTD FANS

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims it is a “privilege” to manage Manchester United players with the attitude shown in the 2-0 derby defeat of City – but he still wants up to three new players to make his squad title challengers.

Whatever happens for the rest of the season, beating Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions for the third time this campaign guarantees Solskjaer a fond place in the heart of United fans.

But more importantly, it is now seven wins in his best unbeaten run as United boss – ten games.

And the improvement has come as much in displays as results, with so-so performers like Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial now shining, while new midfielder Bruno Fernandes already looks a season superstar at Prem level.

Martial’s volley and Scott McTominay’s audacious long-ranger to punish Ederson’s clearance sunk City.

And Solskjaer said: “We are improving all the time.

“We know we lack one, two, three players to be considered a title contender and some experience.

“It’s a privilege to be manager of players with this attitude. They give it everything they’ve got.

“They’re going to improve as players. The fans and players love it.”

It all means United will be overwhelming favourites at LASK in the Europa League on Thursday night.

And it overshadowed speculation Old Trafford keeper Dean Henderson, now shining on loan for Sheffield United, will join Chelsea next term.

Meanwhile, United are reportedly confident of tying Holland Under-21 winger Tabith Chong to a long-term deal, despite interest from Inter Milan.

  • GUNNAR NEED THREE SIGNINGS

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reckons Manchester United could mount a serious title challenge if they sign three more players.

The Red Devils have identified Bundesliga hotshot Jadon Sancho as their top summer target, according to reports.

Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish and Leicester City's James Maddison are also on United's transfer shortlist.

A 2-0 win against Manchester City saw United extend their unbeaten run to 10 games across all competitions.

After City's defeat on Sunday Solskjaer said:“We know we lack one, two, three players to be considered a title contender and some experience. We know that.

“We are just going to start talking about going up the table, getting more points. Chelsea and Leicester are too far ahead for my liking.

“I haven’t beaten Pep three times, it is my players that have – but yes I believe in my capabilities of improving this club.

“For me it shows we are on the right track and improving and we are Manchester United and looking to catch the teams in front of us.”

  • MARTIAL GORE

Anthony Martial showed off a gruesome knee graze he picked up during Manchester United's impressive 2-0 win against Manchester City.

The French forward netted the first of the Red Devils' two goals in the first half.

And he was substituted in the 78th minute with his replacement Scott Tominay scoring for United in the final moments of the game.

On his Instagram story, Martial posted a video showing a large graze on his right knee and a similar scrape on his left.

  • Paulo Dybala called off his move to Manchester United while his agent was sat in Ed Woodward's office.

According to Fabrizio Romano in Calciomercato, Dybala’s broker Jorge Antun was in negotiations with the United executive vice chairman Woodward at the club’s London office.

But the Argentina international called Antun and told him that he was happy at Juventus, loves the Italian club and is not after a big-money move to England.

Spurs were also linked with a move for Dybala, but that move failed to materialise too.

United are, however, confident that starlet Tahith Chong will sign a longterm contract with the club, according to reports.

The talented midfielder, 20, is said to be interesting European clubs including Inter Milan, Juventus and Barcelona.

The Holland Under-21 international's contract is set to expire this summer, and he was expected to move from Old Trafford.

But, according to the Sunday Telegraph, the Red Devils are confident Chong will sign a new deal.

A source says the club “hope that offers from abroad will be resisted and the club can beat any interest.”

And Real Madrid are planning a fresh bid to sign David De Gea this summer.

SunSport understands Real boss Zinedine Zidane remains a huge fan of Manchester United’s keeper and wants him to replace Thibaut Courtois.

United would demand £70million for De Gea, 29, who only signed a new £375,000-a-week contract in September.
