The Killers’ frontman Brandon Flowers to go ‘under the knife’ after mountain bike accident

The Killers star Brand Flowers, 39, is to undergo surgery to repair his shoulder following a mountain biking accident. The lead singer of the Nevada born rock band revealed he had torn a labrum in his shoulder after flying over the handlebars of his bike.

The shoulder labrum is a piece of soft cartilage in the socket-shaped joint in your shoulder bone.

It cups the ball-shaped joint at the top of your upper arm bone, connecting the two joints.

The vocalist updated his fans on his health during an Instagram Live session alongside the band’s drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr., and admitted the injury had “manifested itself” in the wake of the incident.

“Some of you may have seen the picture I posted and some footage when I went over the handlebars on my bike and an injury from that has manifested itself,” Flowers stated.

“I have a torn labrum in that shoulder so I am going under the knife in a couple of weeks to get that taken care of.”

He said it will take an estimated two months for him to recover and will have to wear his arm in sling.

It’s not the first time he’s taken a hit to his upper body, as he pointed out he’s had decompression surgery on his “bad shoulders” in the past.

The Mr. Brightside artist was involved in a separate mountain biking incident more than three years ago, as he shared a shot to social media showing facial injuries but it is unclear that’s what he was referring to in this specific case.

In the 2017 post, he wrote alongside a bloodied photo of himself: “When [mountain] biking down hill, don’t squeeze left brake.”

The pair also touched on their latest UK tour, providing fans with a disappointing prediction for the gig that has already been rescheduled from 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“We hope May happens but it’s not looking great,” Flowers shrugged.

As it stands, the band are currently set to kick off their UK tour at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium on May 25 but it currently isn’t known when live events will be able to take place again in the UK, as the government keep us in national lockdown.

But they did have some good news about their album, dropping a fair few hints about what fans can expect.

Vannucci Jr referred to one song as a “novel” with Flowers describing it as “a seven-minute song about a slot technician with a gambling problem”.

They announced the highly-anticipated follow-up to Imploding The Mirage is “pretty much done”, with the band planning to mix it in the coming weeks.

Flowers confirmed the news in conversation with Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig on Apple Music.
