Tess Daly, 51, has candidly spoken about how her dad Vivian Daly’s death affected her and admitted her “biggest regret” is that he was unable to meet her daughters, Phoebe, 16, and Amber, 11. The presenter lost her dad a year before she gave birth to her first child with husband Vernon Kay, 46.
She was also pregnant when she filmed the first series of Strictly Come Dancing before returning for the second half of series two just six weeks after she had Phoebe.
Tess recalled: “That was a heck of a year.
“I remember Phoebe’s very first trip outside. She was just a week old and I took her to TV Centre.
“I remember standing outside, with Bruce Forsyth holding her.”

The star went on to admit her concerns that her breasts would leak while she hosted the show with Bruce, who died in 2017.
She divulged: “I went back six weeks to the day after I had her, after a major op [she had a Caesarean] and I was still breast-feeding.
“I was terrified about how I would manage if I leaked! Because it’s the BBC there were no ad breaks, so there was a lot of padding.”
Tess went on to address the emotional side of that year of her life.
She told the Daily Mail’s Weekend Magazine last month: “My dad had died the previous year.
“He never got to meet my children – which is my biggest regret, he would’ve loved them.”
The star was also sad that her dad didn’t get a chance to see her present Strictly, as he was passionate about ballroom dancing.
She added: “But he never got to see me do Strictly either, and he would have been so proud.

“He loved Bruce Forsyth. He adored ballroom, all of it.”
Tess recently revealed she broke down in tears before returning to Strictly this year.
The former model explained that as she watched footage of the contestants rehearsing their dances, she “laughed and cried watching them”.
Sharing a video of herself on Instagram, Tess said: “I just had to share this with you because I am genuinely so excited.
“I’ve just seen the celebrities and their pro partners training – I’ve seen footage of them – for Saturday’s first live show, and the routines look amazing.
“I mean they are honestly so good. I laughed and I cried watching them, I went through every emotion because it was so moving and brilliant. You’re gonna love it.”
She also wrote alongside it: “Cannot wait for you to watch. Amazing dancing! It felt like a dose of pure joy.
“PS please excuse the state of me, [I] don’t get out much.”
