John Mellencamp is getting to spend some quality time with his 2-week-old granddaughter, Dove.
His daughter, “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Teddi Mellencamp, this week shared a sweet photo of the rocker holding the baby girl. John, 68, was recording new music at his Belmont Mall studio in Indiana when Dove was born, per his Instagram.
In a clever play on the lyrics to John’s 1985 classic tune “Small Town,” Teddi, 38, captioned the new photo, “She wasn’t born in a small town and she won’t grow up in a small town but she loves when Peepaw comes to visit her in the big town.”
He originally sang, “Well I was born in a small town and I live in a small town, probably die in a small town. Oh, those small communities.”
Teddi’s “RHOBH” co-stars went wild for the snap, with Lisa Rinna commenting, “Ahhhhhhh!!!!! 💗,” and newbie Sutton Stracke chiming in, “Sweetest moments.” Kyle Richards added a couple of cute emojis, while her daughter Sophia Umansky said, “If I was a grandpa I would wanna be called Peepaw too.”
Teddi and her husband, Edwin Arroyave, welcomed Dove on Feb. 25. They are also parents to daughter Slate, 7, and son, Cruz, 5. Arroyave has an 11-year-old daughter named Isabella from a previous relationship.
Teddi is John’s daughter with his second wife, Victoria Granucci.
Teddi also posted a picture of John with her brother Speck, 25, this week.
