Kym Marsh’s dad ‘doing well’ and ‘responding to treatment’ after incurable cancer diagnosis

Last year, Kym Marsh revealed the heartbreaking news her beloved dad David has incurable prostate cancer.

And when OK! speaks with her after her stunning honeymoon in the Caribbean, the former Coronation Street actress revealed the amazing news her dad is responding the treatment and doing well.

“His body is responding to the treatment well, but it’s not without its side effects,” she told us. “He’s still battling with pain and he’s not as mobile as he used to be.

“He gets very frustrated and he has up and down days, but overall he’s doing well and my mum is fantastic at taking care of him… He’s doing as well as we could have hoped.”

Her new husband and Army Major Scott Ratcliff added: “Looking back at the options we were presented with, I think he’s doing better than we could have hoped.

“It’s definitely not perfect and he struggles through some days, but he’s got guts and he’s making a heck of the job of it.”

As well as their clear positive attitude to her father’s health, Kym opened up on the toll her dad’s diagnosis has had on her mental health.

The 45 year old, who took some time off presenting Morning Live last year due to her anxiety, told us: “Last year was really tough, especially after my dad was dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer; that hit me like a tonne of bricks.

“I started suffering from really bad panic attacks and I knew I had to take some time away from work and spend some time with my family.”

Kym, who has found the benefits in talking therapy, revealed she’s now in a “good place” and “looking forward to getting back to work.”

And we’re sure her recent romantic honeymoon in the luxurious Sandals Grenada Resort & Spa would have given her some well-deserved rest and relaxation.

Speaking of the trip, she told us: "It was lovely. Sandals is an adult-only resort so it was nice to just have adult time.

"We’re both so busy and having children means life takes over sometimes and it’s quite easy to forget who you are as a person, so it was nice to just do what we wanted for a change."
