Kanye West made a characteristically low-key appearance in Los Angeles this week, sporting a full head and face mask to run his errands.
Los Angeles is currently in the midst of a heatwave, with warnings of temperatures up to 110 Fahrenheit – which is 43 degrees Celsius – but the rapper did not seem bothered by the heat as he wore the hood-style mask covering his entire head, with just tiny holes for him to see out of.
Kanye, 44, who is reportedly dating Russian model Irina Shayk, 35, following his split from Kim Kardashian, 40, was seen heading to a meeting at a nearby office where he remained for a couple of hours.
It’s not the first time Kanye was spotted sporting this unusual type of face covering as he previously wore another similar style with pictures of Jesus on it around the city.
He is also reported to have worn the hood during a virtual court deposition this week amid a legal battle with a company called MyChannel, which alleges he went back on a deal and ‘stole’ their technology to promote his Sunday Service concerts despite reportedly promising to invest in the company.
MyChannel is suing the father of four for $20million (£14million) and seeking a jury trial after he reportedly reneged on their agreement.
Kanye was brought to court via an emergency motion filed by the firm’s lawyers, to sealed court documents obtained by AllHipHop.com.
It’s claimed he refused to remove the mask despite requests from MyChannel’s lawyers, and claimed the legal team didn’t have the right to see his face, according to filings.
He is also alleged to have called the firm’s attorney, Michael Popok, ‘boy’ several times and asked if he was ‘f**king stupid’ after refusing to answer his questions and refusing to look at him.
Kanye is also said to have kept playing with his mobile phone before ending the deposition after 10 minutes by walking off, according to court documents.
MyChannel lawyers, Ben J. Meiselas, told AllHipHop.com: ‘West’s bad faith efforts to sabotage the deposition will be viewed by the Court as one of the most outrageous and inappropriate deposition performances it has observed as well.’
He added that they are looking to bring Kanye into court for a deposition in person next month, with plans to sanction him for $63,000 (£45,000).
