Chris Evans has opened up about his hospital visit, after being forced to miss his Virgin Radio Breakfast show.
Fans were left concerned when the 54-year-old didn’t pop up on the airwaves on Monday, with Sam Pinkham temporarily taking over hosting duties.
It was later revealed that the radio icon had been diagnosed with kidney stones, and was recovering at home.
Chatting about his illness, the star confessed he initially thought it was just ‘trapped wind and general man pain’.
However, when painkillers didn’t soothe the ache, he was advised to go to A&E.
‘After an ultrasound scan and CT scan, it was clear I had a kidney stone on the move,’ he said. ‘I was subsequently admitted to a ward where I was looked after until I came back home on Monday evening.
‘I still have the stone, and if it doesn’t come out soon I will need to go back in and have it removed.’
‘All the NHS doctors, nurses, porters and consultants were typically amazing, professional, warm, caring – all wrapped up in their usual blanket of selflessness and hilarity,’ he added to the Sun, thanking those who looked after him.
Chris missed out on Monday’s Breakfast show, with Sam telling listeners that he wasn’t feeling well.
He also filled in yesterday, informing us all of his co-star’s illness.
‘If you’ve just tuned into us here on Chris Evans’ radio show, he went into hospital over the weekend with stomach pains,’ he said, via the Daily Express.
‘It turns out that he had kidney stones. He’s all sorted and he is back at home now.
‘He is taking the rest of the week off and will be back with you on Monday.’
The Chris Evans Breakfast Show airs on weekdays from 6.30am on Virgin Radio.
