Woman quoted £650 to change her tired kitchen gives it a stunning overhaul using £12 paint and stickyback plastic

A WOMAN decided to give her kitchen a trendy makeover herself after being quoted an eye watering £650 to get it done professionally.

Charlotte Taylor moved into her new home a fortnight ago, and decided the kitchen needed some serious updating.

It was fairly bland and dark, with wooden cabinets, a black countertop and a tiled splashback which was once white.

But after being quoted a few hundred pounds to give it a makeover, Charlotte rolled up her sleeves and decided to do it herself.

She bought a tin of paint in a chic grey shade from the Ronseal garden range for £12, called pebble, and bought three rolls of two metre long fablon from Wilko’s for £5 each.

Charlotte used the marble fablon on the worktop counters and the splashback, turning the kitchen into a bright and airy space.

She shared her handiwork on Facebook group We Love Mrs Hinch, where nearly 5,000 people have liked her post.

Charlotte said: “Just wanted to share my kitchen makeover. I only moved into this property two weeks ago and hated the kitchen.

“I was quoted £650 to have the cupboards resprayed and worktops covered, so I decided to do it myself – £12 for the paint, £15 for the fablon.”

She added she was “absolutely over the moon” with the result, which included matching baby pink kitchen accessories.

Charlotte added she had one more more blind to go up and she wanted to tackle the floor next.

Commenting online, one person said: “Stunning! Love it.”

Another wrote: “Wow that’s amazing. Stunning kitchen. The transformation is amazing.”

A third said: “Looks beautiful well done.”

While someone else simply called it “lush” while another said it was “beautiful”.
